Unstoppable plans to become a “one-stop-shop” for Web3 domains as it announces support for .eth domains.
Unstoppable Domains, a digital identity platform that provides Web3 domains, has announced that it’s adding support for Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domain endings.
In Web3, many people use personalised domains to make their wallet addresses readable by a human. ‘CryptoPlug.eth’ for instance is much easier to remember than a hexidecimal address such as 0x23Fe1802e28va78Q4d8382433982340Dfc8888.
This domain then encompasses a digital identity that can be used across all decentralised apps built on that particular blockchain.
Until now, ENS and Unstoppable Domains have been market competitors. Unstoppable Domains has 3.6 million registered domains, a slight lead on the 2.7 million registered with ENS.
Unstoppable announced that it has introduced a new functionality that makes buying .eth domains easier.
The platform will offer an auto-renewal service to prevent users unwittingly losing their domains, as well as an easy checkout service. This means that users can now buy Ethereum domains via Unstoppable through credit cards, PayPal or even ApplePay.
“It’s as easy as checking out on any e-commerce site,” Unstoppable Domains wrote.
The platform also offers a new service called ‘Vault’, which enables users to securely store their domain, .eth or otherwise, in a secure vault managed by Unstoppable, keeping domains separate from other crypto assets. Domains stored in the Vault can be transferred to a self-custodial wallet at any time.
“Every .eth domain purchased from Unstoppable will be registered through ENS smart contract,” the company wrote, adding that users will be able to “manage records, use ENS integrations, and even pay renewal fees directly through ENS” if they prefer.
Pricing for Ethereum domains on Unstoppable will be the same as prices listed on the ENS site, including gas.
Unstoppable’s announcement outlined that their goal with the ENS partnership is “to expand the overall Web3 community as the single one-stop shop for Web3 domains by supporting the most important naming systems and blockchains in Web3, starting with .eth.”
